Patrick Gray founded Risky Business Media in 2007. Patrick started writing about cybersecurity in 2001. After some time on the ZDNet Australia news desk Patrick went freelance in 2004, writing for publications like Wired.com, The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald

Tom Uren

After a 15 year career with the Australian Signals Directorate Tom left government service to work at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute and then Risky Business Media. He writes the Seriously Risky Business newsletter and hosts the Between Two Nerds and Seriously Risky Business podcasts.

Catalin Cimpanu

Catalin Cimpanu

One of the most prolific cybersecurity journalists in the world, Catalin joined Risky Business in 2022 and writes the Risky Bulletin newsletter, which is the basis for the Risky Bulletin podcasts.

Adam Boileau

Adam Boileau

Adam co-hosts the Risky Business podcast with Patrick Gray. He edits Risky Bulletin and oversees all our coverage for technical accuracy. Previously, Adam worked as a penetration tester and exploit developer.

Amberleigh Jack

Amberleigh Jack

Amberleigh Jack is our in-house producer and editor, working across audio, video and written work. She began her career as a music journalist and radio producer more than 20 years ago and her byline has appeared across New Zealand’s major news publications and magazines.

If the Jack name sounds familiar, yes, it is that Jack; Amberleigh’s brother Barnaby was a well known hacker, back in the day.

James Wilson

James Wilson

James has over 20 years of software and network engineering experience including senior engineering and leadership roles at Apple, AWS, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Woolworths. At Apple he led the teams behind Mail, Calendar, Accounts, Authentication, and the iCloud Data Protection frameworks. He brings a practitioner-turned-executive perspective to Risky Business, hosting deep-dive conversations on enterprise technology, engineering culture and security leadership.

Tirryn Ferrier

Tirryn Ferrier

Tirryn Ferrier manages Risky Business Media’s client relationships, from sales to campaign design and scheduling. He joined the company in 2017 as Patrick Gray’s right hand, helping him build the company from a one-man-show to what it is today.

Claire Aird

Claire Aird

Claire Aird reads the Risky Bulletin podcast three times a week. She is comically overqualified for this responsibility, having spent years working in Australian radio and television, including stints with the ABC and SBS. Claire also produces and hosts podcast series for other media companies, such as Should I Spit, a podcast history series about consumer DNA testing.
